1. Supply of emergency materials. We made two major shipments of basic necessities and hygiene and sanitary products to cover the urgent needs of those affected, especially in 28 geriatric centres in 17 locations. The products include blankets, nappies, syringes, scalpels, gloves and disinfectants, among others.

2. Medical care and health response. Response to outbreaks of diarrhoea and vomiting due to contaminated water, providing specific medicines such as loperamide and oral rehydration salts, in coordination with the health staff of the General University Hospital of Valencia and in collaboration with local health centres.

3. Institutional coordination and collaboration. Participation in the coordination forums with the Generalitat Valenciana, the Valencian NGDO Coordinating Committee and the pharmaceutical sector to ensure an organised and efficient response. In addition, continuous contact is maintained with the sector to determine immediate future lines of action.

4. Encouragement of appropriate donations and financial support. We emphasise the importance of financial donations rather than uncontrolled materials, with the aim of providing faster and more efficient responses and avoiding the entry of medicines outside the controlled circuit.

5. Public health awareness. We issue public health recommendations to prevent diseases related to contaminated water, promoting hygiene measures, vaccination, use of protective equipment and consumption of bottled water.
